fairy sketch

client asked for a fairy on a toadstool with the word believe and brought in some reference images of tattoos that were similar to what she wanted. i did not really think that the tattoos were well done or well designed so i decided to put my own spin on it.

first i did some quick thumbnails to get the basic design. picked a couple that i liked and started to look for good pinup chickadee reference. so i went to the master, gil evegren, and re-drew a pose i liked. i added all the other elements (minus the 'believe'...i know what i want it to look like just haven't done it yet) and ta-da, i got a sketch to show the client.

busy, busy, busy week of drawing and tattooing...man i need a break.

these guys come into the shop all wanting the same tattoo. i'm thinking great this is really going to suck...probably be a barbwire arm band. but it wasn't so this is what they get.

i did this here design for a client, but because i don't really listen too good or didn't ask the right questions it was not used...no biggie, i'll use it as flash or part of a t-shirt design.

sorry for being lazy

soooooo, i tattoo or draw or paint everyday, but i don't update my blog everyday so for that i apologize. i try to only show you the tattoos that get me pumped, the ones that i love doing. i am trying to get recognized for a certain style of tattooing, thats why i post what i do, but unfortunately those tattoos only make up about 10% of what i do.

this right here is a sketch for a t-shirt. we have decided at the shop that all the talented artists that work there should do one design and then we can do limited run t-shirts. still need to color it, but hopefully i can have it done in the next few days.

so blah blah blah...look at what i can do. PEACE!

this is for part of a tattoo...sketched out a few pretty ladies and these i feel made the cut. now i wait on the client to say yay or nay.

caricatures.

i love doing caricatures, maybe it's because i'm not so good at portraits or maybe i just like making people look fucked up...anyways, here are a couple that i have done recently and to sweeten the pot, i get to tattoo these as well.

first off we got that ol dirty bastard kid...love wu-tang, love hip hop, and the client is pretty dope too. i have spent about 1 1/2 hours on this, need to spend maybe another hour just to tighten it up.

01/12/10 sketch dump

this is the first sketch for a forearm piece on a guy who trains brazilian jui-juitsu (spelling?) needs a few changes, but clients happy with the direction so far.



i get to do this little funky monkey tomorrow on a buddy of mine who plays drums.



and finally, first rough on a marilyn manson caricature for the shop babysitter and soon to be piercer Kristen!!! she already has two mansons on her done by my right hand man sean cushnie (check him out, he is sick, swine flu...you know) and am honored that she wants me to waste some space on her.

i have been doing a lot of pay the bills type of tattoos recently so i decided to post some concept sketches for some upcoming tattoos. top left corner is head study for zombie elvis. bottom right corner a monkey playing the bongos for my buddy simon who is a drummer. need to make the monkey's face more intense.
