i also tattoo
a little something i started today. wanted to give it a comic book/fantasy mixed with realism feeling. spent about 3ish hours on this and have about that much time left on it. original art that i drew up for this can be seen here.
lined with a tight 7 in my brand new (and now favorite) soba pilot liner and a tight 3 in my trusty ol' pulse executive. for the shading i used an 11 bugpin in swashdrive rotary...fantastic machine, almost bought another one today, but should wait or look at the stigma hyper.
kiro sumi for lining and silverback greywash. never have used any other of the grey washes on the market, but i love the silverback so why change?
now to go paint some more skulls. PEACE son!
p.s. going to buy a new camera (canon rebel xsi) and set up a photo area in the shop. my good friend aly is also going to teach me how to take a decent photo so that there are no more excuses.

skull practice 02
more practice today. if i keep it up , i promise i will get better. black ink washes and the red is dr. martins liquid watercolor. once again any advice would be dope. checkout practice skull numero one-o here.
skull practice 01
done with ink washes...probably will see a bunch of these in the next few days. starting out with ink washes, will graduate to watercolor and spit shading some tattoo flash...shits hard son soooo any advice would definitely be greatly appreciated.
on a side note: it seems like it is the trend right now for tattoo artists to paint skulls and i by no means ever follow popular trends, but it is really hard to fuck up a skull and since i am technically learning this shit still, i figured that peeps wouldn't mind. so stay classy world wide web!

fairy sketch
client asked for a fairy on a toadstool with the word believe and brought in some reference images of tattoos that were similar to what she wanted. i did not really think that the tattoos were well done or well designed so i decided to put my own spin on it.
first i did some quick thumbnails to get the basic design. picked a couple that i liked and started to look for good pinup chickadee reference. so i went to the master, gil evegren, and re-drew a pose i liked. i added all the other elements (minus the 'believe'...i know what i want it to look like just haven't done it yet) and ta-da, i got a sketch to show the client.
busy, busy, busy week of drawing and tattooing...man i need a break.

skull action
i have tattooed a whole lot of skull imagery in the last year and 5 months (the time when i found my calling as a tattoo applicator), but it never gets old...i love me some skull action.
used my gen 6 swashdrive rotary machine equipped with a regular 7 mag needle from eikon and set up a tight 5 in my brand new soba pilot liner, but only used it for the white highlights. premixed silverback greywash set and the new silverback black.
reference photos were also used for the skull and roses. feel free to critique or ask questions. PEACE!

when lifestyles attack
it was a sunny and hot day today. everyone i know went to the beach and i don't even care because i got to do this today. i ordered a brand new soba pilot liner and was hoping to use it on this , but it didn't get to me in time so i had to use my trusty ol' pulse executive.
3ish hours of lining on the ribs, all with a tight 7 round. hoping i can finish it the next time we meet in a couple of weeks.

sorry for being lazy
soooooo, i tattoo or draw or paint everyday, but i don't update my blog everyday so for that i apologize. i try to only show you the tattoos that get me pumped, the ones that i love doing. i am trying to get recognized for a certain style of tattooing, thats why i post what i do, but unfortunately those tattoos only make up about 10% of what i do.
this right here is a sketch for a t-shirt. we have decided at the shop that all the talented artists that work there should do one design and then we can do limited run t-shirts. still need to color it, but hopefully i can have it done in the next few days.
so blah blah blah...look at what i can do. PEACE!
